⚡You’re Never Too Small to Make a Difference! by Pam Williams ⭐
In a world that often feels overwhelming, it’s easy to get lost in the enormity of the challenges we face. Yet, I’m reminded of a powerful story about a child walking along a beach, surrounded by thousands of starfish stranded on the shore. As the child picks them up one by one and throws them back into the water, a passerby makes light of their efforts by saying, “You can’t save them all; you won’t be able to make any difference to them.” To this, the child replies, “Well, it has made a difference to that one!” as they throw another starfish into the ocean and continue with their task.
⚡Escape and Relax | Seeing The Way with Ian Moncrieff MacMillan 👀
I randomly re-found Escapista, a website that plays curated videos of different places around the world. No speaking, just the ambient sound.
Today I went for a wander around Greenwich Park, then took a train journey out in the country somewhere in Germany.
And when I want to relax (I use this to go to sleep), I do a quick 4-7-8 wind-down. Get comfortable (in bed) and then:
- Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds.
- Hold your breath for 7 seconds.
- Breathe out through your mouth for 8 seconds.
Repeat this 4 times....and go out like a light!
⚡How To Grow Younger, Medicine of the Future Series Part 46 by Yvette Masure | Health is Wealth 🌱
The Ancient Brain 🧠
Yes, we are all connected to and part of everything around us. We are inseparable from our environment. However, what exactly is happening to our brain?
As stimuli enter, we are not always consciously aware of all that our bodies are reacting to: temperature, lighting, textures, and more. Within the lobes of the brain are several key structures that together make up the limbic system, sometimes referred to as the "ancient brain."
The limbic system underpins emotions, behavior, instincts, and the “flight, freeze, or fight” reactions. All of these responses originate here.
Your body's homeostasis its internal state - is supported by various structures in this limbic system, which includes:
- The Hypothalamus: Manages heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure.
- The Thalamus: Transmits all sensory information throughout the brain, except for smell.
- The Amygdala: Almond-shaped (some describe it as a horseshoe-shaped vessel) and filled with fluid, it detects threatening stimuli through frequency vibrations, enabling instant action.
I call it the "ocean of emotion," as it has been proven to hold our emotional memories. Over 20 years of experience in sound frequency therapy using tuning forks has shown me that certain frequencies can enhance and diffuse distress and anxiety, thereby rebalancing emotions. 🙏
I truly believe - dare I say- that sound frequency healing therapy is, or should be, the future of medicine.
Of course, the brain is connected to the brain stem, which in turn communicates with the spinal cord, where all nerve endings are housed.
The Autonomic Nervous System is split into two parts:
- Sympathetic Nervous System: Prepares the body for action.
- Parasympathetic Nervous System: Manages rest and reset functions, such as digestion.
Neuroscientists have developed excellent illustrations of the locations of these systems.
We should seek out things worth being curious about because thoughtful curiosity builds knowledge, and knowledge fosters deeper, more thoughtful curiosity.
I hope this encourages you to be curious, too.
