How to Grow Younger Series Part 11 by Yvette Masure | Health is Wealth 🌱

So what can restore us during this winter, and exceedingly cold period? What daily routines do you adhere to?

Do you take vitamin D?’ I was asked recently…

I think we all should follow our calling: and the vitamin supplement path is not mine.

However, I do love my daily tabs of lionsmane, cordyceps, and red reishi, to name a few, and my ‘Mushrooms as Nutrition‘ in powder - a more potent form.

I may even dabble in some ginseng:  as a periodic booster.

However, my go-to is generally organic foods and ancient well-being recipes I have come across in the  50 years of well-being practices, I have traveled through, on my path.

Today I will share with you ‘congee’ a Chinese rice porridge with restorative powers: and a daily staple.

Congee’is a rice soup and considered a medicinal food since the Han Dynasty in China, 206 BCE

Good organic rice is cooked with extra water and /or stock, for a long time. 1.5 hours on very low heat. Or a slow cooker.

It particularly benefits, the stomach and intestines, and it is most suitable for babies, people with gastrointestinal complaints and people with long-term illnesses.

Gentle and digestible ‘when treating a depleted patient, we use thick rice soup. This is as good as a concoction of ginseng‘ it is written.

It is based on the Eastern concept that diet and lifestyle are the superior way to longevity.

Hence this series: 'How to Grow Younger‘.

The congee can be adapted to meet any medicinal needs for instance, by adding herbs.

However, there are three basic ways that I follow:

Firstly, plain, short grain organic rice cooked slowly till soft for 1 /1/2 hours in water: Vegan. Secondly, the same but by adding bone marrow stock, and thirdly, the same with wild mushroom stock, vegan … and then we can box and freeze it.

Use as you please. Simple and easy, effective in these winter months, and delicious.

A lovely way to start the day.

Even.

Seeing The Way with Ian Moncrieff MacMillan 👀

If like me, you like drawing/doodling what you're thinking through, then a fun thing to play with is Google QuickDraw.

You can use it in two ways:

1. Have a peek at the massive collection of simple 20-second drawings they've collected of simple things like hammers, books, airplanes, etc. Pick a drawing you might want to doodle yourself and see how the person drew it...and try drawing it the same way.

2. Add to the collection by accepting its challenge to doodle an object it asks for in 20sec... .and it tries to guess what you've drawn.
