Random Dialogues Friday 6:08am ish

Friday 15th September 2023

Were you aware that you can include up to five items in the "Talks About" section of your LinkedIn profile? I recently added #wabisabi to mine, although I don't personally speak about it much, my friend Yvette Masure does - particularly in this "Random Dialogues" newsletter.

Additionally, I've added #sesquipedalian to this section, and I'm excited to delve deeper into it during the "Random Dialogues" virtual speaking event on September 28th - six speakers, up to six minutes each. Join us on Thursday, September 28th for an engaging discussion! INFO

With gratitude to Julie for sharing her writing with us today too. Julie and I first crossed paths, when we were both teaching out in Tanzania. In this snapshot from 2014, we are having a giggle during a safari at Tarangire National Park, while our kids are chatting by a bush in the background. The pic just popped up on my Facebook timeline, as did the image below this from the previous year, which my husband shared:

Bullethole in the car courtesy of rebel sniper in Maaloula yesterday”

He has just returned from Morocco and is dropping our son off at university today.

Just a thought for the day today

We are all in the fast lane these days.
Life just gets busier. Faster. It’s full.
A new thought: What are we avoiding?
Are we searching constantly for distraction?
And from what?
Stop. Just stop and question yourself.
Remedy: Find some ‘ space ‘ in yourself.
Allow, yes, allow yourself to be free of thoughts. And just breathe.
We do think it: do it.
Method: Top Tip: one big breath. It slows time down. See what happens.
Listen to the silence: just for a moment.
Enjoy your time. Your life
It’s precious. It’s gifted.
Slow down. Nothing lost.
Quality of life definitely will be gained.

»The devil is in the detail…

… But sometimes just a bit too much

As a kid I doodled. And when I say I doodled. I doodled on absolutely everything and anything, whether it was bits of paper or a pair of old jeans. I didn’t care just as long as I could doodle.

Detail became an obsession.

As time passed, it dawned on me that I would never make a living out of art, so Jewellery was the next best thing. I could indulge my passion for detail with all beautiful “things” and the prospect of making a bit of a living.

So now I’ve realised that my childhood obsession for detail is my real superpower.

I do sometimes still wish my superpower was to be able to fly…but you can’t have it all I suppose,

The drawing below took over two years to complete. It’s completely freehand. No rulers or straight-edged aids were used.
