How to Grow Younger Series Part 12 by Yvette Masure | Health is Wealth 🌱

Last week I asked what can restore us during the winter and I continue.

I was sent an alternative congee recipe to mine, so include it below too.

January 20, marked the major cold season in Chinese medicine. However, despite the cold, the promise of this time of year is the slowly returning yang. The days are getting longer and even by now, we are seeing some migratory birds on the move in just a few weeks, both Luna and Solar beginning of spring arrive.

The Chinese New Year will mark the first day of spring: February 10th, 2024. I will add to that in next week’s newsletter!

With my forecast for the Chinese New Year of the Wood Dragon 2024.

However, I must add ‘major cold’ season does give rise not only to cold but to dryness: even with all the wet weather it’s a climatic ‘energy’  of dryness.

It is seen reflected in our skin. So this congee, Laba Congee, is another recipe idea to support that.

Excessive dryness does harm certain organs such as the lungs. We can ‘ warm’, moisten, nourish, and ‘Supplement’ this effect, with either recipe of Congee Porridge.

This easily digested food will guard against cold, dryness, and particularly lung dryness in this season.

This is Laba congee made from a variety of ingredients, and is also known as ‘seven treasure five flavour congee’.

Laba congee can help nourish the blood, support heart health, and even lower blood pressure. It can make the body stronger & healthier and help you live longer: a longer life. Also traced back to the Song Dynasty -it was connected with the custom of beating off evil spirits with red beans!

(Omit Lotus seeds as these may be hard to acquire. )

Do share this and last week’s recipes with your loved ones and friends,  and let’s nourish our organs together.

This winter, stay away from illnesses and enjoy good health and longevity!

The unbelievable meaning of nothingness in a world filled with empty eggshells on a windswept mountain in November surrounded by goats, trees and clouds that hide behind smiles of pain. That’s the shortened version. Maurice

🎫Events With Me

As you may know, I teach a monthly free virtual “Canva for Beginners Level 1” session which is a wonderful way to digitally upskill people, get creative and have fun! On Wednesday at 5 am, I dialed into a “Canva For Education” Zoom and learned how to create fun interactive digital books, social stories, stickers, mind maps, infographics and much more. As a teacher, I’ll explore ways I can integrate this into my teaching with kids in my classroom and can share tips at my next free training with you too ⬇️

By the way, the most popular answer to last week’s question was diagonal.
